Ill just head over to the trusty interwebs and select a Limousine Company based on price and off we go, and everything will be great! Well…...maybe
Do I rent a party Bus? Limo Bus? Executive Coach? Or a Limo Party Bus?
Hmm- so many names for the same thing. Let us clarify. When you are speaking with a bus company make sure that you are speaking of the same thing. Bus companies typically operate a number of different models of buses and each serves a different purpose and style. One can easily be confused by the terminology and lack of clarification.
Limo Bus, Limo Party Bus, Limousine Coach
All these names refer to a vehicle that is set up with perimeter seating and lights and TVs and great sounds systems and all the amenities that one would expect in a unit designed to have a rolling party or nightclub atmosphere. These come in plenty of different capacities and configurations.
Executive Coaches or Executive Shuttles
All these are buses that typically refer to a higher end but (forward facing) seating perhaps with leather and a few screens. These would not be considered a “Party Coach” but often get booked by mistake by folks as they will normally be offered at a significantly lower price point than the true Limo and Party Style Buses.
Coach Buses, Motor Coaches
When speaking of the term Coach Bus or Motor Coach- we in the industry are speaking of the full size over the road buses. These will seat over 50 passengers and are not typically considered a “party bus”.
Ok – so now we have the bus terminology down let’s talk about costs and what effects costs.
What effects my Limo Bus cost?
Size or Capacity
Limo Party Buses are built in many different sizes. Do expect the larger the bus the higher the cost. Buses that seat up to 15 passengers will not cost the same as those that seat 30-35 passengers. As the bus’s capacities become larger and hold more passengers the increases to build or produce the unit as well as maintenance and insurance costs increase significantly.
Seasonality- Supply and Demand
I know this is fairly obvious but certain times of the year there just are not enough buses to go around to meet the demand while other times of the year supply exceeds demand. The lower the demand the lower the rate the higher the demand .well. If you want a great experience at a better price point perhaps explore some of the off-season rates over some of the high demand times. We often have to answer questions to clients that rented in say January and then come back in May and become angry at the seasonal price point that May brings.
Day of the Week
Without a doubt Saturdays are always the highest demand day! Followed by Friday and the Sunday comes in 3rd. The rest of the days the demand is very light, and one could certainly leverage a better price point by selecting one of those days instead.
Length of Hours
Typically, the more hours that you rest a party bus for the better rate you will receive. You see often we receive quote requests for service for just an hour or 2. With the cost of the vehicles, the preparation that goes into the vehicle to ensure its clean and operational and staffing expectations its difficult to meet those types of requests on high demand days and keep the bills paid. You will most likely get a better hourly price point on a Limo Party bus in the 8-10-hour range, of course depending on the service day and the time of the day.
Time of the day
Believe that the time of the day does affect your price point and how flexible Limousine Bus Companies can be on Price points. For example a 4 hour reservation from 6am till 10am will be priced significantly lower than perhaps a 2pm to 6pm reservation. Most of the time our goal is to rent as many hours as possible so that we can maximize the use of the vehicle on a high demand day, so a timeframe that is normally “not booked” becomes beneficial for us to book over a time that is normally booked. A 3pm to 7pm booking will always get full rate as it will be difficult for us to fill the gaps prior to and or after the 7pm range. Of course anything is possible but less likely.
Ok Ok I got it – but what is it gonna cost me and my friends to rent or charter a Party Bus?
